Skate by the Lake
From 17 November
This winter our 200-square-metre outdoor ice rink returns to the shores of Ullswater. Open everyday, or sleepover with a skate included in your stay.
A 16ft Christmas tree and shimmering lights, experience our Another Place gardens aglow with seasonal cheer. And with dedicated accessible and family-friendly skate sessions, everyone’s welcome.
Walking
Amble or ramble, wander or hike. There are routes, footpaths, tracks and trails galore around Ullswater.
Archery
7+ years | £20 per person
Our coaches run through the basics of archery for children and adults. Theory and safety, then shooting at targets in the hotel grounds.
Sailing
Arrange a sailing session with Ullswater Sailing School and get picked up from our jetty.
Stargazing
The Lake District’s Dark Sky Discovery Status means you can see more with the naked eye, including the Milky Way.
Cycling
Bring your own or hire bikes. There are over 196 miles in the Lakes & Dales loop for you to cycle up fells and around the lake.
Running
The fells in the Lake District offer some of the best running trails in the UK. Don’t take our word for it.

Patterdale Tennis club
Book a court to “pay and play” across two refurbished tennis courts in Patterdale on the King George V playing field. A 15 minute drive from the hotel to Patterdale.

Aira Force
Take the Ullswater Steamer to the new pier at National Trust-run Aira Force waterfall. A short 10 minute interactive walk up to the waterfall circles back to the car park and jetty Admire the views from the tearoom. A must-visit Ullswater gem.
Go ape at Whinlatter Forest
Swing through the canopy at Whinlatter Forest and enjoy a day out for the whole family. Ride zip slides and get to grips with an adventurous climbing experience in an awesome forest location . You can also get off road and enjoy an epic forest adventure with Go Ape Forest Segway.
Treetop Trek & Nets
Treetop Trek is treetop adventure at Zip World Windermere, 40 minutes from Another Place. Swing, climb and balance your way through the woodland canopy then race down the 250m triple zip wire. Suitable from Ages 5+. Treetop Nets is for the younger ones. Bounce high in the trees on suspended nets with slides, ball pools and net tunnels. From ages 3+.
