Skate by the lake

Get your skates on as our ice rink returns to the shores of Ullswater. A 16ft Christmas tree, shimmering lights, snow-capped fells – and a 200-square-metre ice rink overlooking the lake – will transform the Another Place grounds this winter.

Bookings for winter skating will open later in 2026...

Winter skating

Skate. Gather. Feast. Stay. Open every day for hotel guests, locals and visitors, the ice rink is the centrepiece of our festive celebrations.

Little feet feeling unsteady? Pick up a penguin or polar bear skate aid for children.

Residents staying with us will get a discount on skate sessions.

Stay in Decemeber

Take some time to get into the Christmas spirit with a December stay at Another Place, with access to special resident rate skating sessions. Each stay includes free reign of our Swim Club and Kids’ Zone supervised sessions. Beyond the rink, there’s the warmth of the Fellside Sauna and outdoor hot tub and for the brave, there’s guided open water and night swimming in the lake with our resident swimming expert Colin Hill. Ice skating sessions will open later in the year to book.

Glasshouse and Living Space

Skate and Pizza

After working up an appetite on the ice, de-boot and head to The Glasshouse to pick up your woodfired pizzas. Warm up with spice-infused mulled wine, cider and hot chocolate. Or raise a toast with our twelve drinks of Christmas in The Living Space.
