By train
The nearest train station is Penrith. Travelling by Virgin Trains the journey will take three hours from London Euston to Penrith North Lakes.

The hotel is a 15-20 minute taxi ride from the station.

By bus
The 508 Stagecoach Bus (Penrith – Patterdale) has a regular service from Penrith train station to Watermillock and takes about 30 minutes. This bus also stops at Pooley Bridge, Aira Force and Glenridding.

Weekends and bank holidays from 31 March - 2 November
Daily service from 30 June - 29 August
Connecting Pooley Bridge, Howtown, Lowther Castle and Ullswater Steamer. Their is a request bus stop at the end of the Another Place driveway

By plane
The nearest airports are Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester.

By car
Another Place is a 10 minute drive from the M6. At junction 40 leave the motorway and head west on the A66. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A592. Follow the A592 until you reach a T-junction at the edge of Ullswater. Turn right towards Patterdale and Windermere. Continue on for one mile, you will find the hotel on your left.

Alternate route by car
During bad weather the A592 which runs close to the lake may become flooded. An alternate route to avoid the A592 is to continue on the A66 and take the left turn for Hutton. Follow the road down to the hotel.

Co-wheels car hire
A pay-as-you-go car hire scheme, with vehicles available to hire in convenient locations across the UK including a Toyota Yaris Hybrid from Penrith Railway station. Once you become a Co-wheels car club member, you can book any Co-Wheels cars on the online booking system or over the phone, and use your smartcard to access them – no need for keys. At the end of your booking, you return the car back into its bay.
Insurance is included, and you can book a car for 30mins to days at a time, only paying for the hire time and distance you drive.

Electric car charging point
We currently have five electrical car charging points at The Lake if you require car charging during your stay. These are located in the lower car park adjacent to the sheepshed. Payment is by card and Apple Pay and can be made through the app. These units are untethered, so you will require your own charging lead. Once your car is fully charged we ask if you move it to a regular parking space to ensure other guests can use the facility.
