Stand-up Paddleboarding
in the Lake District

Accessible, easy to learn and seriously fun, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUPing) is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world.

And when you venture out onto the lake, you’ll find a different perspective. Fells march into the distance and birds wheel overhead. Just the sound of your paddle on the water.

Stand-up paddleboard lessons

Cost: £40
Duration: 2 hours
Location: Start from our private jetty.
Includes: Introduction to SUP including a mini tour.

Group: Six people per instructor. Children under 18 must be accompanied by adults.

What you will learn

Lessons, taught by fully qualified BSUPA instructors, are tailored every session, so you can decide how adventurous you want to be. There‘s no age limit and no special skills are required.

Lessons will include:

  • All the equipment you need to get started, including the latest Gul wetsuits.
  • Checking the lake conditions
  • Understanding potential hazards and how to avoid them
  • Carrying the board and paddling comfortably
  • Prone paddling and when to use it
  • Stance and positioning on the board
  • Paddling techniques
  • How to fall safely and get back on

Lessons can be arranged for families, groups or individuals.

Far from the hustle and bustle, Ullswater is the best base for outdoor pursuits in the Lake District.

With miles of lakeshore and a SUP at your disposal, you’ll have the perfect canvas to reconnect with nature. Pick up a paddle, find your feet and explore the lake on your own steam.

Hire a stand up paddleboard: Half or full day subject to availability.

As long as you have some experience, and the weather looks fair, you’ll be able to hire everything you need to venture out. Ask at reception when you arrive at The Lake.
