Stand-up paddleboarding, or SUP, is the oldest form of surfing. The contemporary version of the sport originated in the 16th century in Hawaii, where surfers would take to the waves on boards of up to five metres in length, using a paddle to control the board and propel themselves through the water.

Today stand-up paddleboards look much like an oversized longboard – large, stable and with plenty of width and volume, ideal for beginners. An exhilarating sport, accessible to all, paddleboarding is a great way to keep fit and a fun way to explore Ullswater.
