Try a kayaking lesson with the children, or if alone time is needed, we have supervised activities in the Kids’ Zone so you can make time for a treatment this summer holiday.
Our half term supervised sessions run from Friday 28 June to Sunday 1 September.

Our Kids’ Zone team will be in contact 7 – 10 days prior to your arrival, to assist with booking sessions.

A great way of getting younger ones out onto the water. The whole family can join a fully qualified instructor in a guided canoe session around the lake. £30pp.

Explore the secluded bay of Kailpot on Ullswater with expert tuition from Colin Hill. A short boat-trip away, you will swim close to the lake shoreline, climbing rocks and crags to find the best spot to jump in. £35pp.

After a briefing on safety and technique, then our experience tutor, Colin Hill, will take you out in to the lake to teach you open-water best-practice and take in panoramic views of the fells. £35pp.

This Summer, experience an interactive and fun-filled LEGO® laboratory, featuring dozens of things to do across 6 science themes! Explore 6 separate zones with fun activities relating to space, sound, forces, electricity, biology and engineering.
Throughout the exhibition, interactive activities will be accompanied by fascinating LEGO® models and plenty of opportunities to play with LEGO® bricks.
Daily 9am to 6pm
The steamer boats run daily and are a great way to cruise the nine miles of Ullswater. There are 4 stops which include Pooley Bridge, Howtown, Glenridding and Aira Force. The steamer cruises work well in conjunction with walks around the lake.
With ‘Kids Free Fridays’ running from 26 July to 30 August inclusive, just bring along an adult with a valid Cruise All Piers Pass and get free child entry (one free child per full paying adult).

Dogs are always welcome and there is free parking for the show. Tickets can be booked in advance.
Saturday 20 July 2019 – Ali Baba & the Forty Thieves
Jewels, gold, thieves, caves, magic words and a robber king – Ali Baba & the Forty Thieves is a tale of high Arabian drama, adapted from the ancient classic Arabian Nights. Gates open at 5.45pm.
Monday 29 July 2019 – Gangsta Granny
Gangsta Granny was written by David Walliams and tells the story of Ben, an 11-year-old want-to-be plumber fed up with spending his Friday nights at Granny’s. All she wants to do is play Scrabble and eat cabbage – not exactly his idea of fun! Gates open at 5.30pm.

There are lots of events and activities happening in the National Park celebrating local culture, wildlife, scenery and much more. From fabulous family days out to high fell hikes. Many of the guided walks incorporate a cruise on the Ullswater Steamers.
Guided walks around Ullswater include the Cockpit Circle, Aira Force, Place Fell and Martindale Deer Valley. There are a range of difficulties from moderate to very hard with the likes of Blencathra and Helvellyn.

Lowther Castle is working with Arragon’s to offer a top quality cycle-hire experience. There are miles of recommended cycle tracks that start from the castle for you to explore, including Askham Fell Loop.
