Warm hospitality and contemporary comfort combine with views over Ullswater and the fells. Inside are 40 bedrooms, Rampsbeck Restaurant, The Living Space bar and restaurant and a library – as well as Swim Club, including treatment rooms and a 20 metre lake view swimming pool. Outside are rolling grounds, secluded nooks, a walnut grove and the lakeshore with our own jetty. Stay on your own, with friends or the family plus the dog to discover adventure and tranquillity in the Lakes.

The original Georgian house is filled with light, contemporary spaces. New parts of the building take cues from the hotel’s heritage. Old and new are tied throughout, with original features taking their place alongside bold textiles and modernist furniture. Spaces are inviting and convivial – each designed with a purpose in mind but together forming an open house where you are free to do as you please.

The places you’ll go

18 roamable acres of secluded grounds include a formal garden, a vegetable patch and herb garden, the Sheep’s Shed sports hire, a sheep’s field and a walnut grove. From our part of the lakeshore, a wooden jetty gives direct access to the lake for swimmers and sailors. Oak, beech and alder are strung with hammocks and swinging seats. It’s a place for parties and picnics and hanging out in trees.
