Our Lake District country pub
The Brackenrigg Inn
Local food and drink, contemporary en-suite rooms, roaring fires and lively conversation await for guests, locals and walkers in our relaxed Cumbrian pub with wide angle Ullswater views.
Hiking boots, dogs and a well earned appetite are positively encouraged.
Homegrown Cumbrian food and drink
At The Brackenrigg, we celebrate traditional Cumbrian dishes and pioneer new combinations inspired by the seasons. Our menus feature fresh local produce – some of it grown and harvested right here in our kitchen gardens.
Come on in, warm up and settle down with a nourishing meal or restorative drink after a long hike. We have a good collection of books, games, maps and artwork to explore, too.
Stay the night
Relax after a day on the fells and watch the Ullswater Steamers from your window. Choose from a single, double or two-bedroom suite for a family of four. All are dog-friendly.
Overnight guests also have access to everything at Another Place, just a short distance down the hill – including Swim Club’s fell-view swimming pool and outdoor hot tub, Kids’ Zone, library, three restaurants, and lake sports sessions and paddleboard hire.
For our guests, a full continental breakfast will be served each morning.

A bright future
After reopening the main pub and rooms in spring 2024, our longer term plan is to re-establish The Brackenrigg’s microbrewery and tap room in the converted stable block.
We’re also planning to evolve the six acres of meadows into kitchen gardens, orchards, an events meadow for feast nights and summer dining under the stars; a nature-inspired children’s play area; barbecue and fire pit areas and the potential for more outdoor accommodation closer to the wild, in a similar vein to Outside.
