Warm hospitality and contemporary comfort combine with views over Ullswater and the fells. Inside are 40 bedrooms, a restaurant, The Living Space and a library – as well as Swim Club, including treatment rooms and a pool. Another Place, The Lake opens its doors in August 2017. Outside are rolling grounds, secluded nooks, a walnut grove and the lakeshore. Stay on your own, with friends or the family plus the dog to discover adventure and tranquillity in the Lakes.
The original Georgian building is filled with light, contemporary spaces. New parts of the building take cues from the hotel’s heritage. Old and new are tied throughout, with original features taking their place alongside bold textiles and modernist furniture. Spaces are inviting and convivial – each designed with a purpose in mind but together forming an open house where you are free to do as you please.
Passing time or just passing through, see our welcome board to help you plan the day ahead. Blankets and free-pour coffee are yours to take into the grounds.
Leaf through the books – yours to borrow and read while you stay – and find your spot by the fire. Or plot your day on a map and play a board game or two.
Share a meal in our restaurant, serving delicious food inspired by the region. The three-course menu is available to both guests and non-residents.
Eat, meet and greet in The Living Space or lounge on sofas and gaze at the view. The menu includes easy favourites such as mussels, burgers and salads.
THE PLACES YOU’LL GO
Eighteen roamable acres of secluded grounds include a garden, a vegetable patch and herb garden, a sports pavilion, a sheep’s field and a walnut grove. From our part of the lakeshore is a wooden finger jetty. Oak, beech and alder are strung with hammocks and swinging seats. It’s a place for parties and picnics and hanging out in trees.
All the family can make themselves at home here. Everyone can use our grounds for outdoor adventure, while our dedicated, Ofsted-registered, kids’ space includes an outside play and woodland area. From there, we run supervised kids’ sessions, including activities, crafts and forest skills.
Dogs can accompany you in The Living Space, on the terrace, in both our family cottages and in 10 dog-friendly rooms. On site are water bowls and treats. On our doorstep are beautiful, interesting walks.
