'Outstanding New Hotel' award

On 16 October 2018 – last Tuesday – Olympia in London hosted the annual Independent Hotel Show Awards, in association with Sky.

ames Tweddle, Director of Accommodation at Sky was impressed by the standard of entries. “The passion, hard work and commitment shown by all the nominees in their entries was clear to see,” he said. “It provided great insight into how far hoteliers go to creating and maintaining a first-class guest experience.”

We knew leading up to the show that Another Place, The Lake was on the shortlist for the ‘Outstanding New Hotel Award’. The final say was a vote.

“The Outstanding New Hotel Award celebrates an independent hotel that brings dynamism and coveted ideas to the sector and has been operating for no more than three years,” wrote George Sell for Boutique Hotel News. “A game-changer with a unique style, the hotel has influenced attitudes within the sector, whilst providing exemplary service and amazing guest experiences, as well as demonstrating remarkable business efficiency.”

Against such stiff competition, we were delighted to win the award and join the Independent Hotel Show hall of fame as this years ‘Outstanding New Hotel’.

“It was quite an undertaking to open our first hotel within the Another Place collection on the shores of Ullswater, just over a year ago,” said CEO Will Ashworth. “Our team in The Lake has worked very hard to make our vision a reality, this award is truly a testament to them all. We’ve had such wonderful support from local businesses and individuals and see this as a win for Cumbria too.”
