Angle Tarn Pikes half day hike
Join Nicola Merrett and the team at Hiking Highs for a guided hike to one of the most rewarding viewpoints in the Lake District. Starting from nearby Patterdale, this half-day hike takes you through the quiet valleys and hidden paths of Martindale before climbing to the summit of Angle Tarn Pikes. Along the way, keep an eye out for the famous Martindale red deer and enjoy panoramic views across the surrounding fells.

Season: All year. Weekly on Wednesday.
Cost: £70 pp
Duration: 4 hours
Group: Up to ten people, minimum of two. Children 14 years and over. Children age 14-17 years need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian, ratio is one adult to every two children.

What to bring
To help you stay comfortable and safe on the fells, please bring:
A rucksack to carry your lunch, drinks and any extra layers
Walking boots or trail shoes with good grip
Walking socks
A fully waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers
A warm layer, such as a fleece or insulated jacket
A spare warm layer kept dry in your bag
A warm hat and gloves
Lunch and snacks
Plenty of water
A hot drink in a flask, particularly during cooler months

Weather in the Lake District can change quickly, even on bright and sunny days. Waterproof clothing should always be carried as part of your essential kit, helping you stay comfortable and prepared throughout your walk.
The hike begins at King George V Playing Field in Patterdale, about 20 minutes’ drive from the hotel. You’ll need to make your own way there, either by car, bicycle, bus or public transport.
The hotel has flasks for hot drinks, but we recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks, or pre-order a packed lunch from the hotel (please order a day in advance).
The car park at Patterdale is £5, going toward Patterdale community paid by QR code or cash.
