Arragons Cycle Hire
Local cycle specialists Arragons Cycle Hire provide an eBike delivery and collection service from the hotel, as well as collection from Lowther Castle. Hire bikes and spend your time in the Lakes car free.
They can prepare a cycling adventure designed entirely around your requirements. Or, if you’d prefer dedicated cycle trails, starting at Lowther Castle there are over 30km of signposted tracks, suitable for the whole family and the more adventurous.
Lowther Estate Trails
The Lowther Estate is a 20 minute drive from the hotel, in the beautiful Eden Valley. Book directly with Arragon cycles, before you arrive.
Lakes & Dales Loop
This 196 mile circular route has six different tours in Eden Valley and further afield. With its quiet country lanes, the Lakes & Dales Loop is suitable for all abilities.
Eden Valley Cycle Routes
A mix of easy cycle rides and technical mountain bike routes starting from Ullswater. The routes all feature in Eden Tourism’s ‘Biking Around Ullswater’ guide, which you’ll find on our front desk.
Whinlatter Forest
Avoid the roads altogether at Whinlatter forest. The purpose built mountain bike trails are the longest in the Lake District, and they’re well supported with trail guides and a cycle shop in the heart of the forest.
Cycling routes, peaks and climbs
For every family-friendly ride, there are ten challenging routes up and around the fells. Inclines reaching a tear-jerking 33% and elevations up to 426m.
Cycling from The Lake
An outdoor bike rack is available for bikes, so you can hire nearby or bring your own.
