Summer days on Islay

We’ve created a unique summer island adventure on Islay, ‘the queen’ of the Hebridean archipelago off the west coast of Scotland.

Your base will be The Machrie, a beautiful hotel sitting above the dunes of a seven-mile beach.

Fatbike along the shore, take a wildlife boat trip around the coastline, visit a distillery, play a round of golf and eat seasonal menus featuring the freshest local produce.

Let Another Place be your key to this extraordinary place…

Stag lounge at The Machrie

The best of the island

We recommend staying at least three nights to get the full Islay experience, but you can also book one night at The Machrie.

Guests can dine in 18 Restaurant & Bar, take a trip with Islay Sea Adventures wildlife boat trip and a fatbike guided tour. We’re on hand to shape a holiday itinerary for you.

From oyster shacks at Loch Gruinart to spotting Greenland Barnacle Geese (filmed for David Attenborough’s Wild Isles) and Golden Eagles at the RSPB reserves; visiting the nine whisky distilleries to flying kites on the seven-mile Big Strand beach by the hotel … we think you’ll love Islay as much as we do.
