LAGAVULIN DISTILLERY

The Lagavulin distillery has called the Isle of Islay home for over 200 years. Situated in a small bay near the ruins of Dunyvaig Castle, the distillery is just a couple of miles outside the village of Port Ellen.

Being situated at its own bay is also part of the whisky’s story. The distillery’s water source flows down from the Lochan Solum into the bay, bringing natural character to each dram.

The people behind the dram

Lagavulin is a community of passionate individuals united by exceptional whisky. From Islay's master distillers to global enthusiasts, their craft reflects a legacy of tradition, dedication, and quality. Each bottle embodies the people and culture behind it, such as the legend of Lagavulin, Iain McArthur who, after 53 years of working with whisky at Lagavulin and Port Ellen – and famed for his legendary warehouse tastings – hung up his valinch for a final time in December 2023.
