Walks on Islay
A 9.7-km out-and-back trail near Isle Of Islay, Argyll and Bute. Generally considered an easy route. It takes an average of two hours to complete.

Description: An easy walk which offers views of the stunning coastline and rolling hills of Islay. Visit the three most well-known distilleries on Islay; Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg whilst on the route and see how the whisky is made. The path is spacious and paved with tarmac without many steep intervals, making it an easy route to walk. It is a linear walk. At the end, you can either double-back and return on the same path to Port Ellen, or there is a bus which runs between Ardbeg and the trailhead. The path can also be cycled.
Difficulty: Easy
Directions: From the hotel, drive or take a fat bike to Port Ellen where the trail commences. At the end, return here either via bus or walking. Buses sometimes run from the hotel to Port Ellen as well.
What to bring: Drink, snacks, sun cream, a hat and a camera
Islay whisky
If you love the Islay whiskies, this walking route is for you. Visit the distilleries along the way and book ahead for a guided tour. You’ll get to try the local whisky and take in the deep history of each distillery.
There are shops to explore at each distillery and coffee/ food available when you reach Ardbeg – look for its trailer café. Some seating is available here which offers you a rest along the route.
