Circularity

Giving back what we get out

We’re working towards a circular approach to the resources we use. That’s why you'll find home-grown produce in our seasonal menus, it's why you won't find a plastic straw in your Islay whisky sour, and it’s why all our people – from our chefs to our housekeepers – are as committed to looking after the planet as you are. Discover how we're embracing a circular approach to how we operate, consume resources and manage waste.

land&water

Recovering and reusing with land&water

From the river source, to the open lake and ocean, and across everywhere we live and enjoy. Plastic waste is detrimental to our environment. That’s why all of our bath and body products are helping keep plastic out of our waterways.

In every bedroom and bathroom, and in every Swim Club or Machrie treatment, you'll find bath and body products from sustainable British brand land&water. Its natural, ethical and vegan recipes come in 100% recycled bottles made from Prevented Ocean Plastics. In the first first half of 2023, land&water repurposed 600kg of salvaged ocean plastic in their bottles; a figure that’s only set to grow. In the hotel, we only replace their 250ml bottles if they get damaged through heavy repeated use – otherwise we refill them using land&water’s 5L refill packs to minimise packaging.

Refill not landfill

Refill not landfill

We want to create a hotel working in a circular system – where resources are reused. That’s why you’ll find a refillable 200ml glass bottle of milk in your room, rather than disposable bottles or cartons.

With each bottle refilled using a milk pergal, it’s a circular win-win: less plastic waste and less milk going to waste too.
