VISIT BEATRIX POTTER’S HOME

Did you know Peter Rabbit and other stories from Beatrix Potter are based in the Lake District, surrounding Ullswater? Beatrix herself lived only 25 miles away from Another Place, The Lake, at Hill Top Farm, now a National Trust property.

View the original illustrations of Peter Rabbit and other beloved creatures, as well as the letters in which each of these characters came to life, in the 2018 exhibition –The Right Sort of Woman. Or explore the grounds where their very own Mr McGregor tends to the garden (he doesn’t mind the pesky rabbits quite so much as in the books).

THE RHEGED CENTER EXHIBITION

Wednesday 28 February– Sunday 3 June

Rheged’s new interactive exhibition about Beatrix Potter’s most famous creation – Peter Rabbit. This Exhibition will be open every day in the Gallery at Rheged, from Wednesday 28 February – Sunday 3 June, on this the first leg of its National Tour.

Developed in partnership with Penguin Random House and The River and Rowing Museum, Henley, the Exhibition presents the story of how Beatrix Potter created Peter Rabbit with original artworks and manuscripts which are rarely exhibited. It also reveals a fresh insight into the innovative way Beatrix Potter developed Peter Rabbit toys and games over 100 years ago.

Within the exhibition, children can play like Peter in an interactive learning area including a giant board game, a Ginger and Pickles Shop and a chance to perform scenes from the Tales and do some creative writing and drawing. They can even help Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle hang out the washing, or plant carrots in Mr. McGregor’s garden.

THE RHEGED CENTER FILM SCREENING

Friday 16 March– Sunday 3 June

See Beatrix Potter’s beloved Children’s books come to life at Rheged Theatre, with screenings of Peter Rabbit. Starring James Corden, Domhnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie. Coming to Rheged’s huge cinema every day from 16 March – 3 June.

Peter Rabbit and his three sisters — Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail — enjoy spending their days in Mr. McGregor’s vegetable garden. When one of McGregor’s relatives suddenly moves in, he’s less than thrilled to discover a family of rabbits in his new home. A battle of wills soon breaks out as the new owner hatches scheme after scheme to get rid of Peter — a resourceful rabbit who proves to be a worthy and wily opponent.

Across the weekend on Saturday 24 & Sunday 25 March, Rheged are holding a special Peter Rabbit Party. Meet a real ‘Peter Rabbit’ bunny in the petting corner, get your face painted and join in on bunny ear making activities and try out your best bunny pose in the Peter Rabbit photo booth!

Book a joint exhibition and film ticket – pick your choice of film screening and visit the exhibition any time on the same day with your ticket.
