2.30pm – 6pm: Halloween face painting.

5pm – 6pm: Spooky supper: Wiggly worms, slimy slugs and toads’ tongues.

6.30pm – 10pm: Halloween party: Games, entertainment and fancy dress. 3-7 years and 7-12 years. Spaces are limited so please on the day of the party. Part of our Kids’ Zone supervised sessions.

Tuesday 31 October
5pm – 6pm: Spooky supper: Another chance to try our spooky Halloween spread.

6.30pm – 10pm: Late night pumpkin carving and Halloween crafts and activities. 3-7 years and 7-12 years. Spaces are limited so please book on the day of the party. Part of our Kids’ Zone supervised sessions.

10.30am – 12pm: Our coaches run through the basics of archery for children. Theory and safety, then shooting at targets a stone’s throw from our front door. For 7-12 years. No charge for guests of the hotel.

Night Walks

GUIDED FAMILY NIGHT WALKS

Tuesday 17, Thursday 19 and Tuesday 24, Thursday 26 October 2017

6.30pm – 8.30pm: Guided walks for all the family. Through the woods and fells around the Ullswater way, they’ll have head torches and the stars to light the way. Starting from the hotel, night walks are a wonderful way to gain a new perspective on our surroundings. Suitable for confident walkers aged 5+. Part of our family entertainment. No charge for guests of the hotel.

RAFT BUILDING

Tuesday 17 & Tuesday 24 October 2017

2pm – 4pm: Raft building out of barrels, posts and ropes with the whole family. Qualified instructors will be on hand to adjudicate and dispense handy advice, but the responsibility is still yours. Will it float? Find out as you set out on the lake. Part of our family entertainment programme. No charge for guests of the hotel.

A great family activity, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUPing) is accessible, easy to learn and seriously fun. Our fully qualified instructors tailor every session. There’s no age limit and no special skills are required.

£40 per person. £30 for children under 12 years.

Starting from the hotel, paddle and float your way around the lake in the company of a qualified instructor in either a kayak (adults) or a canoe (families) and take in all that the valley has to offer.

NIGHT AT THE CASTLE PRESENTS ‘THRILLER’

Friday 27 October 2017, from 5pm

Night at the Castle presents THRILLER – an evening of creepy performance and chilling encounters. Fear not, the macabre event will also present a Halloween fancy dress disco, film screenings, scrumptious street food and a plentiful range of craft ales, mulled ciders, wine and prosecco. Guests will have access to the beautiful and spooky ruins of Lowther Castle, the ancient gardens and a woodland trail which promises a host of hair-raising experiences. Suitable for all ages.

WINTER DROVING

Join the Herd for a spectacular celebration of winter and Penrith’s agricultural heritage – illuminating Penrith with fire, animation, music and merriment.

This magical day of rural celebration, food, fun, games, masquerade and fire includes a traditional Cumbrian market featuring local food and drink, and high quality arts and crafts.  Then as night falls welcome the mystical masked procession…featuring fire, music, mayhem and animals aplenty.

Fire & Feasting – two timeless activities which define the festive season! Night at the Castle’s re-imagining of Bonfire Night will include something for all ages, with live music into the night, a fully heated outdoor bar (with a mouth-watering range of real ales and mulled ciders), beautiful fire installations, delicious street food and drinks, and a fireworks spectacular – all within the breathtaking and atmospheric setting of a specially illuminated Lowther Castle.
