Household – A guest blog

May 8, 2017

No place I’d rather be.

At Household we spend our time exploring what people really want and designing brands, shops and experiences around the world for much loved destinations including Christian Louboutin, The White Company, Watergate Bay Hotel and Soho House. This is what gets us up in the morning and seeing people enjoy spending time in these creative spaces is a wonderful thing. So when the opportunity came along to go on another journey with the like-minded team behind the Watergate Bay Hotel and design a unique lifestyle guest experience in the Lake District, we jumped right on it.

Another Place, The Lake – is the first hotel in the newly launching Another Place collection, and opens this summer in the Lake District. It’s breathtaking and it’s all about embracing the great outdoors. Yes, the deep drama of the lakes has gotten under our skin. Inspired by stories of the ice-age ribbon carved lake nestled between the mountains, the natural views so loved by Wordsworth the poet, ghostly horses, and the first speed record set on Ullswater in the 1950s – we have immersed ourselves in designing a heart-stirring hotel. One that imagines ways for guests to get as close to the breathtaking landscape as possible and create their own stories and memories here.

It’s been almost a year in the making and our Household design team has brought together an eclectic bright and broody palette of ‘moods’, mirroring the visual emotion of the Lakes throughout the hotel spaces. From a combination of earthy tones and seasonal accent colours, to a wonderful homage to local craftsmanship, the collection of gathering spaces at Another Place are designed to embrace nature, relaxed living, and invite guests to take a walk on the wild side…
