10 Ways To Have a Perfect Stay At Another Place, The Lake

By Hand Luggage Only

The Lake District needs little introduction and with its recent classification as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there’s every excuse why you should be experiencing this pristine area of northern England.

It feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of London but travel time is less than 3.5 hours by train from London, or even less if you’re travelling from Manchester, Edinburgh or Glasgow. The lakes are truly one of England’s most stunning areas of natural beauty and what better way to experience this incredible region than my immersing yourself in the gorgeous scenery, incredible food and a stunning hotel.

Of course, if you’re heading to the Lake District, the biggest decision to make is where to stay – With being one of the largest (and tranquil) lakes, away from the hive of activity around some of the other lakes.

Perched right on the edge of Ullswater Another Place, The Lake is the new kid on the block. Having just opened its doors for us to indulge in all things sumptuous, relaxing and idyllic.

Take a look at some of the very best things you should see and do whilst staying at Another Place, The Lake.

Stand up paddle on Ullswater in the Lake District

1.) Stand up paddle boarding

One of the best things about Ullswater is that it’s much quieter than the likes of Windermere that can get pretty hectic, especially in the summer months. That being said, this quietness makes for a perfect spot to brush up your skills, paddle boarding across the lake, with no fear of jet skis or high-powered boats on the lake.

Strap on your wetsuit, grab yourself a board and head off with one of the qualified instructors (organised by the gang at Another Place) and experience the lakes eerie tranquility. It’s captivating.

One of the best things about Another Place is its relaxed atmosphere, with The Living Space being a great spot to grab a dish made from the best Cumbrian produce. I’m a firm believer that local produce should always be celebrated and the chef and their team do this so well.

This is your holiday, so make sure you indulge on some of their delicious scones, clotted cream and jam. Gorge on these unapologetically, with no guilt or remorse.

Hiking in the Lake District

3.) Hike up Hallin Fell

Another Place has a diverse mix of trails, hikes and walks right on the doorstep that will suit almost all abilities.

To enjoy one of the best views of Ullswater Lake, head up to the top of Hallin Fell that’s perfect for a morning ramble in the countryside. Take the Steamer to Howtown and head up around 380 metres to the summit of Hallin Fell. Make sure to pack plenty of water, a good pair of walking shoes and layer up – the wind can pick up the higher you get.

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day… and we couldn’t agree more. If you’re familiar with the epic breakfasts at the Watergate Bay Hotel, you’ll fall head over heels in love with the breakfasts at Another Place.

After a little lay in, make sure to work up an appetite and gorge on some of the freshly griddled waffles that are made on the spot.  They’re perfect with lashings of syrup and fresh fruit.
