Get active down at the lakeshore with a range of activities over half term. Let the children off to try their hands at archery, star gaze on night walks or join you in the water for raft building.
ACTIVITIES IN KIDS’ ZONE
Throughout half term there will be a series of exciting, age appropriate activities and games in our supervised sessions
3-7 years & 7-12 years

Our coaches run through the basics of archery for children. Theory and safety, then shooting at targets a stone’s throw from our front door.
Archery is suitable for children 7 years and over and is part of Kids’ Zone supervised sessions.

GUIDED NIGHT WALKS
Saturday 10, 17 & 24 February – 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Guided walks for children. Through the woods and fells around the Ullswater way, they’ll have head torches and the stars to light the way. Starting from the hotel, night walks are a wonderful way to gain a new perspective on our surroundings. Suitable for confident walkers aged 5 years and over.
Guides night walks are for the whole family and does not form part of the Kids’ Zone supervised sessions.

Raft building out of barrels, posts and ropes with the whole family. Qualified instructors will be on hand to adjudicate and dispense handy advice, but the responsibility is still yours. Will it float? Find out as you set out on the lake.
Raft building is for the whole family and does not form part of the Kids’ Zone supervised sessions.

A great family activity, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUPing) is accessible, easy to learn and seriously fun. Our fully qualified instructors tailor every session. There’s no age limit and no special skills are required.

Starting from the hotel, paddle and float your way around the lake in the company of a qualified instructor in either a kayak (adults) or a canoe (families) and take in all that the valley has to offer.

FEBRUARY HALF TERM EVENTS AT THE RHEGED CENTRE

The Rheged Centre is a hive of activity over February half term. Join in with family events like theatre and science shows, Astral Circus and daily family films.
THEATRE BY THE LAKE: ‘THE WALRUS AND THE CARPENTER’
Tuesday 13 February, 10am and 2pm
“The time has come” to join the Walrus and Carpenter, with some eager Oysters, on their hunt for a gourmet picnic spot!
These comical characters, along with a capricious Maid with Mop, make entertaining company for all ages.
This musical show, based around Lewis Carroll’s famous poem from Alice Through The Looking Glass, is set to accompaniment on the accordion and features a large weepy walrus puppet and his lugubrious chippy companion, following a cameo appearance from Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
Expect hilarity, eye-watering recitation, song and slapstick in a salty combination of theatre and haute cuisine.
There are two parts to this event, a craft workshop and a show. We would encourage participation in both parts!
Workshop 1: 10am – 11am, Show 1: 11.30am – 12.15pm
Workshop 2: 2pm – 3pm, Show 2: 3.30pm – 4.15pm
Workshop and show: £12 per child; adults free (but places must be booked). Show only: £6 per person

The Chit Chat Chalk Show follows Kiko, a confused young girl struggling to understand how she feels about the strange new world she lives in. With the help of her quirky new friends, she embarks upon a quest to discover the mixture of emotions and colours that make her unique. Anger, jealousy, happiness and many more emotions – join our wonderful characters discovering them all!
