BrutalFest 9 – 10 September 2017

April 18, 2017

The walk along Swirral Edge to the top of Helvellyn in the Lake District

A new, festival-style event weekend is coming to Ullswater this September. Founded by the organisers of the Brutal triathlons series, BrutalFest offers a weekend of single-discipline events, triathlon races, talks and workshops.

Brutal by name, brutal by their very nature, the routes take place in cool, clear water, across rocky trails and on hilly roads. The swimming, running and triathlon events are suited to those who like to push themselves that little bit further.

How many events will you take on at BrutalFest? Pick and choose which events you’d like to enter over the weekend – competitively or just for fun – and book your place.  Stay at Another Place, The Lake during BrutalFest and save 15% on each entry fee using the code ‘AP15’.

While some of the events are tough, there are also events that are accessible to people of all fitness levels and abilities. On Saturday 9, families are invited to take part in the family fun run. Saturday also sees 5km and 10km run races as well as lake swims from 2.5km to 10km in distance.

On Sunday 10, the events step up a gear with BrutalFest hosting sprint, standard and middle-distance triathlons and a half-marathon run – all taking place in and around Ullswater and the fells. The diverse events at BrutalFest offer an introduction to triathlons for those who are often intimidated by events of a tougher nature. The aim for the founders of the new Lake District event is to encourage more swimmers, runners and triathletes to embrace the lakes and fells and to realise their potential.

Workshops & talks

Adventurer Sean Conway and the 400+ triathlon finisher, Mark Kleanthous, will have seasoned triathletes and first-timers alike all ears as they offer helpful tips, inspiration and motivation.

After becoming the first and only person in history to complete the Great British Triathlon: cycling, swimming (previously thought impossible) and then running the length of Britain from Land’s End to John O’Groats, Sean is passionate about encouraging others to take on a challenge and live life more adventurously.
